Summer Maintenance Checklist for Crossbows
Brian Flaherty / June 5th, 2023
While you may not be ready to send some arrows downrange just yet this summer with your crossbow, now is always a wise time to inspect your crossbow for and damage or maintenance work that may be done on it before the season.
Check Condition of Your Strings and Cables
Are they due for a change? We recommend changing your string and cables every 2-3 years depending on your crossbow. If you’re not sure, check with your dealer or with our Customer Experience Team at TenPoint. You don’t want to be stuck needing a string and cables change right before the season when everyone else does too!
Check Condition of All Major Parts of Your Crossbow
Apply a string conditioner or wax to the string and cables to prevent wear and to keep your crossbow shooting in top form.
Check the tightness of all screws, nuts, and bolts on your crossbow.  Hand-tight is all that is needed.
Apply some rust-protective oil to the parts on the crossbow that might be susceptible to rust from moisture.
Apply lubricating oil to all moving parts that need it.
Check Condition of Cocking Device
Regardless of your cocking device, check to make sure that all parts are in top operating shape, paying special attention to cords, straps, and springs. If you find that it is not working properly, now is the time to troubleshoot it so you are set to practice later this summer.
